Authorship of the paper: The Vancouver Convention on authorship applies:

  • Everyone who has made a significant contribution to the research and to the drafting or revision of the submission is named as an author.
  • All named authors have made a significant contribution to the research and to the drafting or revision of the submission.
  • All named authors have given approval for the submitted version of the work to be published in this journal and take responsibility for its accuracy and integrity.
  • Contributors who do not meet these criteria for authorship are acknowledged for their

Originality and plagiarism: Authors warrant that:

  • The submission is their own original
  • The submission does not have substantial similarities with work previously published by any of the authors or submitted to another publication.
  • The work of others has been appropriately cited, quoted, and
  • The editor will be notified promptly if authors identify a significant error or inaccuracy in their work, so that the work can be retracted or corrected.

Data integrity: Authors warrant that:

  • Data are true and have not been
  • Data have been collected in accordance with ethics approval from an appropriate body which is identified in the submission.

Copyright permissions: Where the work includes any text, illustrations, charts, tables, photographs, or other material from previously published sources, authors warrant that:

  • Permission to reproduce that content has been obtained from the rights holder; or
  • That content is in the public domain (not protected by copyright) or
  • That content is available under a license that permits use in this journal, and is used in compliance with the terms of that license.

Declarations: All submissions must include:

  • Disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as a potential conflict of interest. This includes identification of any sources of funding for the research.
  • Disclosure of whether and how AI tools were used in writing the
  • Statements of compliance, if the reported research involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use.
  • Confirmation that the submission complies with the NZJABR statement of ethical practice, as to authorship, originality, data integrity and ethics approval, and copyright

Complaints:

  • Any complaint received about any article before or after publication by the journal will be investigated by the editor. Actions taken may include further review, rejection of a submission, correcting or retracting a published article.
  • Any complaint received about the journal itself will be investigated by two members of the Editorial Board.
